RapidWeaver 4.2.3 Release Candidate 1 Now Available
Posted: 12th May 2009 02:35 PM

Hi Guys

We’re making a beta available today of RapidWeaver 4.2.3. This has a number of fixes and improvements, however we ask that you’re especially careful in testing this build that you check your links after publishing. We’ve made a number of improvements to RapidWeaver for this release and this build is localised in French, German, Italian and Japanese also.

Changes in 4.2.3

• Numerous fixes for linking to blog posts and assets.
• Fixes for MobileMe publishing.
• Reverted the save progress to a standard sheet to improve stability
• Numerous refinements in memory usage
• Fixed an issue with the Aqualicious theme when using fluid sized pages.
• Fixed the “*** -[NSCFString replaceOccurrencesOfString:withString:options:range:]: nil argument” error
• Fixed smart quotes in Ignore Formatting areas
• Numerous other minor fixes and enhancements
• Fixed an issue with the display of dates in the Japanese localisation

Please report any issues in this thread - and as usual, please be sure you’re happy with the risks of using pre-release software before using this build. Barring any show-stopper bugs, this build will be released officially tomorrow.

Download RapidWeaver 4.2.3 RC 1

Thanks!

Thanks for the fixes. The podcast file structure is all better now—thanks so much!

Unfortunately, this release introduces one small new issue with podcasts: I have two blog sections with podcasts attached; I can add links to the podcasts in the first blog with the arrow+plus link button, but the second blog offers no option to link to its files, even though the podcast episodes are there.

See the attached screenshot; “DIYbook” is the second blog—no arrow in the menu for linking to its podcasts.

Hi Hamish, I’ll look into this one right away. One question, did you do anything different when adding the podcast files to those posts?

I used the Podcast button in the blog editing window, as usual. I just recreated the blog entries, but there was still no option to link to the podcasts I’d attached. (Under normal circumstances, is it necessary to publish the pages before that becomes available? This link issue happened with pages I’ve published last night, but I didn’t publish the ones I was experimenting with just now.)

Thanks for looking into this.

No, it’s not necessary to publish before those links should be available.

I was unable to reproduce this on a fresh document here. If you attempt to create a link from a regular styled text page do you see the links? Would you be willing to send me a copy of your document file? That would be the quickest way for me to figure out what’s happening. I’ll direct message you regarding how to go about that if you’re interested.

Just a follow-up: the issue was simply that I had permalinks turned off for the second blog. Turning them on made the podcast files linkable.

Thanks, Kevin, for finding the solution for me!

Not sure if you guys changed anything about publishing but my files are quite literally flying up to the server now. They just wiz by in the publishing panel, especially css files. 3 to 5 a second.

I like it. Smile

Hi Kevin

Thanks for the update!

One question - when you mention ‘Numerous fixes for linking to ... assets’ - what does this mean - that you can move a RW project to another computer without breaking the asset links and having to reload them?

Thanks - Phil

Hi Phil

This is not the case for 4.2.3. It’s actually a reference to the linking issues that folks were experiencing when upgrading from 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 and their assets would not be linked to online correctly.

Thanks!

Nik
