NEW THEMES: MenuFade (or: where’s the menu?), Menu DropDown and MenuSlider
Posted: 22nd June 2009 08:06 PM

Two different themes: MENUFADE and MENU DROPDOWN and NEW: MENU SLIDER

Sometimes the overall look of a website is disturbed by the menu-items.
MENUFADE has a new type of menu: when opening a page there are no menu-items visible. This gives your website a clean and professional look and it doesn’t overwhelm your content.
But when you click with your mouse (or a mouseover) on the MenuTab the menu fades open. When you click again it disappears.

Try the click and the mouseover:
Click
MouseOver

By default the text in the MenuTab is “MENU” but you can replace this by your own text (for example ‘Contents’, ‘Table of Contents’, ‘Click here for Menu’ or whatever) and also change the slide and opacity duration in the script (read the Manual). With the included Blink Snippet you can add a blink effect to pay extra attention to the MenuTab (one, two, three or more blinks, it’s up to you).

Three different Menufade themes
MENUFADE comes in three variations
MenuFade 1 shows only the submenus of the current menu when you click with your mouse on the MenuTab.
MenuFade 2 shows all submenus of your website when you click with your mouse on the MenuTab.
MenuFade Split shows the submenus of the current menu-item in the Sidebar.

I don’t like the fading menu yet. I’ll try the MENU DROPDOWN or the MENUSLIDER (new!) theme first
I can imagine that some of you have fear to use the fading menu: you presume your visitor might not understand this or cannot find the menu-items. Really? I don’t think so, but I’ve added another theme: MENU DROPDOWN: it has a dropdownmenu but no fading effect.

- MENU DropDown has the same options as the MenuFade themes.

ExtraContent
ExtraContent allows you to add more content then RapidWeaver typically allows.
Menufade and MenuDropdown have three such ExtraContent areas that allow the user to add more text, images or any other form of content while still maintaing the themes visual integrity:
• At the right side of the MenuTab, on the Header in 10 different widths,
• Between the Header and the Content/Sidebar.
• Between the Content and the Footer.

Theme Styles
As usual the themes have a lot of Theme Styles and Color Picker features.
Some of them:
• 5 different built-in headerimages and the ability to add 5 custom header images.
• Three different header heights (90px, 105px and 120px).
• Sidebar Left, Right or Hide.
• Add a RapidSearchBox on the Header.
• Up to 3 ExtraContent Containers. There’s no need to use this option!
• 8 different MenuTab widths (60px until 200px), transparent or a colour.
• 9 different widths (750px, 800px, 850px, 900px, 960px, 1000px, 1050 and 11px).
• Many color picker features.

What’s in the downloadfile:
5 RapidWeaver themes (3 MENUFADE themes, 1 MENU DROPDOWN theme and (NEW) MENU SLIDER theme) + Manual
40 Extra Background Images.
4 ExtraContent Snippets + 1 Blink Snippet + a Manual how to use them in your RW page.
CSS codes for extra styling such as background patterns or borders.

All Themes and Styles.

MENUFADE, MENU DropDown and MENU Slider have been tested and are OK with all RapidWeaver plugins and with the major browsers: IE6, IE7, IE8, Google Chrome, Opera, Camino, Firefox and Safari (for Windows and Mac).

This theme was ready before my holiday. I came back a few days ago and announced it now Smile
My wife doesn’t allow me to take my MacBook with me when we are on vacation.... and she’s right: it feels VERY good to get away for a while without my mac and RW.

I do some work for Apple and NASA and I get about 3-400 emails per day. I’m traveling now and have just run a marathon through Heathrow’s Terminal 5 with a 25kg bag of technology. I’m envious, and think you and your wife are quite smart!

Simple, clean with unique navigation that yields even more space for content.
Awesome work Henk.

As for going on holiday ‘sans Mac’ - that brings me out in a cold sweat! Wink

You are one of the theme devs that really knows how to do it. I would purchase this in a second if I could. I am really amazed by you yet again Henk. Great job. I hope you and the Mrs. had a fantastic holiday. I wish you well with this beauty.

A Robbie White type of thing done the Henk Vrieselaar way!! Brilliant! I like your style (I wouldn’t be using Mondrian for my own site if I didn’t!) and this adds something a bit extra without making it all look too busy.

Like John says, you make too many good themes for some of us to manage buying them all!

with best regards,
Karn.

yikes, yet another Henk V. that I will need to get for my arsenal. Looking at your stuff is like walking into a yarn shop- can’t leave without buying more yarn and themes....

Thanks all for those nice comments Smile Smile

I’ve added a BannerZest flash header to this theme.
Brian Morgan will create a tutorial how to do this in the next few days, so have a little patience please.
