Hey Everyone!
We’re excited to make Socialite Beta 3 available for your testing today. There’s been a number of changes since the last beta, as well as a new feature, so please read the entirety of this post before downloading the new beta!
Dropping Support for OneRiot, Identi.ca and Reddit
In order to allow us more development time on features for the most commonly used services in Socialite (most notably Twitter) we’re removing OneRiot, Identi.ca and Reddit support in this beta. I should state now that we have no plans to remove any further services from the application, and all the other services found in Beta 3 will remain so!
Twitter List support
As Twitter Lists are available to all users, we’ve added in preliminary List support to Socialite. We don’t have any plans to add List creation, editing or removal at this time. Due to limitations in the Twitter API, we’re only able to synchronise lists that you have created to the sidebar right now. If you have subscribed to other people’s lists, they will not currently appear in the sidebar - however if Twitter’s API changes to allow this in the future we will of course bring this into Socialite.
The graphics for the Lists feature are still non-final, however we wanted to get this feature into your hands as soon as possible!
Facebook Authentication
In this new build of Socialite, we’re using Facebook’s new Connect API to sign you in. This means you’ll need to re-authorise your account again. Whilst we’re aware of this being the second time you’ll need to do this for Facebook in as many betas, these are changes that we simply have to make.
Flickr Authentication
In this new build of Socialite, we’re using all-new Socialite API keys for Flickr. As a result, you will need to re-authenticate in order to access your Flickr stream. Whilst I appreciate this is a minor annoyance, this is the final service we need to switch to Socialite-specific API keys.
What’s New in Beta 3?
• Twitter List support
• Removed OneRiot, Identi.ca and Reddit services
• New Flickr API keys, that will require re-authentication
• New Facebook Connect sign-in that will require re-authentication.
• Fixed an issue that prevented Facebook Status updates from refreshing.
• Entirely re-worked sidebar with improved folder management.
• Changes to the Twitter service settings, with changes to reply behaviour.
• Reworked Contextual menus for services.
• Feeds service is now known simply as RSS.
• Much-improved Mac OS X Leopard support.
• Changes to Twitter authentication to avoid frozen authentication views.
• Threaded conversations are now back on Flickr, Twitter and Facebook! Hurrah!
• When subscribing to an RSS feed, if you have one account setup the feed will be automatically added to it. If you have more than 1, you’ll be asked to select which RSS account / service you’d like to add the feed to.
• Numerous under-the-hood changes.
If you’re experiencing issues
Please follow these steps if you’ve updated from an old build of Eventbox, and running into problems. Otherwise, please report bugs in this thread!

A note about re-authentication
As mentioned previously, we’ve had to make a fair few changes that change the authentication systems in the app. This beta (barring any bugs) should bring to an end the requirement of reauthenticating new accounts. Thanks for your patience in this matter: it’s something we simply had to do, and know it’s been a little bumpy along the way.
On behalf of everyone at Realmac, thanks for your patience and understanding!
Kind Regards,
Nik
