+ Remove padding around the content container
+ Apply CSS3 rounded corners on header and footer

+ Apply background gradient to the sidebar
+ Make footer container semi-transparent
+ Apply a background image to the footer
+ Custom header height
(All stacks and snippets here work with Media)

Other changes:
A selection of Photoshop and Pixelmator templates are included. These enable you to create your own Aurora, Cloud or Bokeh effects. Use the “Colour Fill” layer in each file to apply your own colours or gradients. These can be saved as JPG files and inserted into the theme.  Alternatively you can import your own images like photographs or embed Flash animations within the header. Media supports the new SWF flash format offered in BannerZest 2.0 so you can create iPhone-safe Flash banners.

In previous versions of Media, the Google search bar had to be configured manually by editing code within the index.html file. As of version 1.2, the search bar is now powered by RapidSearch 4 which makes it far easier to setup and maintain. This also means search results are presented within your website and visitors are no longer taken to an external page in a new window to view search results.

A version of Media is also available on request with the Mediabox Advanced modal window already built in and fully tested, ready for use. Smile

Big doesn’t quite describe. Gargantuan, perhaps? It’ll take me all afternoon just to grok all the changes. Downloading update now. Thanks Will.

“Click here for the user guide” as a menu item is too cool.

Wow Will!!! this is huge. It took me like 10minutes to read and understand all the changes you did. sounds really great - a good theme got even better - thanks a million! kai.

To be honest, quite a lot of them are minor changes. Cosmetically the theme is not much different from the original. Most of the changes have been relating to theme settings and the way they are deployed within the theme. Probably the biggest change was the switch from a custom search script to RapidSearch.

Hi Will, thanks for this great update! Smile

In the announcement you’re saying “A selection of Photoshop and Pixelmator templates are included”, but I cannot find them in my download folder “News Media 1.1” ...?

Hi Matthias,
There are no templates supplied with the News Media theme. News Media is a separate theme update to this one (they’re different themes). That being said though, if you need any templates for headers or banners in News Media, let me know.

Hi Will, thank you for your very quick answer! Aargh, I’ve simply mistook News for NewsMedia. Sorry for the confusion ... Smile

Jamie

That is a very cool feature!

I worked on testing this with Will and I think I can say “Nobody sweats the small details like Will”.  Excellent update, my friend!

It’s called ”Theme Friday”. I try to release a new free theme for the RapidWeaver community every Friday. Some are new themes, some are old themes abandoned by other developers and some are just simply “that would make a nice theme” type designs. It is simply my idea to share something nice (and useful) with the RapidWeaver community and promote my skills as a theme developer.
