Google Reader Authentication Error
Posted: 13th January 2010 05:59 AM

As of a few minutes ago I am now getting the following error:

“The authentication credentials you have provided for Google Reader were not accepted. Please try again.”

Everything should be in order, and I can log into Google Reader via the web, so I have to assume there is something wrong with Socialite. Anyone else having this problem?

Ok, I deleted my account and re-added it, which seems to have fixed the problem. Very odd.

Walrus,
Same thing here.  And thanks for your tip because I did the same thing and all is in order now.  Very odd indeed…

Same situation here : “The authentication credentials you have provided for Google Reader were not accepted. Please try again”
I’ve read my morning information in Google Reader, andI will try the proposed tip tonight.

It looks that the problem is related to usage of long login name (including @google.com). With using only user name it starts working.

Yes delete and re-add seems to fix problem. Only happened after the upgrade to 1.02

I’ve always used only my username, without @gmail.com..

This morning it simply doesn’t work..

As mentioned above. Delete/Add works.

Already done, it was simply to be precise.. Wink

Hi Guys

It appears that Google’s API changed overnight, and that for some reason a re-authentication was required by Socialite. We’re keeping an eye on this, however all clues point to an API change at Google’s end.

Kind Regards,

Nik

Back from work : same status.
So I used with success the recipe described above : account removed and added..

Some hours later : Things are not fixed… When I mark as read all Google Reader items, everything seems allright. But at the next refresh, all items are unread again Sad

removing and adding didn’t solve the problem for me )8

This started today for me as well and got worse the more I messed with it. Now I can’t even get Socialite to work.  It locks as soon as I open it.
