Google Reader Authentication Error
#16.  Posted: 15th January 2010 05:48 PM

Nothing has worked for me so far…

When I delete the Google Reader service and relaunch Socialite, the service mysteriously is back in the left column giving me the same error. Is there a specific pref.plist file I should delete to fix this?

I ended up deleting Socialite using AppZapper and reinstalling.  That was the only thing that worked for me.

Even with 1.0.2 installed (1013) it worked for a while, but now I’m getting the same authentication problem.

I changed my password and now cannot get in. Works fine on my normal Greader account. Maybe caching pword or something?

I had the authorisation error and “Remove Service” and re-adding it (without re-starting Socialite) seems to have worked for me today.

Thanks

Hi,

What I did and worked at least 2 times:
1) Close Socialite

2) Open with SQLiteManager the Socialite Database located in /Users/your_user/Library/Application Support/Socialite/Socialite.sqlite

3) In table ZACCOUNT, set to NULL the columns ZOPTIONS and ZUSERINFO where column ZNAME = Google Reader

4) Save changes in case SQLiteManager asks and close it.

5) Open Socialite.

After these steps, everything ok without losing something.

An Xtra for Facebook: in the same table of the database I set the column ZUSERNAME = facebook_login where column ZNAME = Facebook (I can’t remember if I set to null ZOPTIONS and ZUSERINFO, but can try it if changing ZUSERNAME is not enough).

Hope it helps. Greetings.

I ended up deleting google reader from within the app and it seemed to work. I’ll try the more detailed option if it fails again.

Even after I delete and re-add Google Reader service, the issue comes back…

Same here. Two days ago I had to delete/add GR Service. Today again this auth fail. Pretty annoying situation.

same here, it did happen again a little while ago

Yep. I get this error, too - though I’m able to simply delete the service, quit Socialite, then re-open and re-enter...but this is a HUGE inconvenience and waste of time. It happens maybe every third or fourth time I open Socialite, and never with any other services: Twitter, Facebook, flickr - all fine. Only Google Reader locks up. C’mon, Realmac, fix this one - it’s not just me.

Yea, I’m getting a little sick of this. Following the “fix” instructions in the Knowledge Base works for a while, and then the issue comes up again.

Got this issue 4 times already.
Account re-ceration solving this issue, but it’s very annoying.

Same here. Two times in two days.

Seeing the same issue here. Works for a few days then stops. Remove re-add works for a few more days, and so on.

Doesn’t happen with Gruml.

Getting it also regularly in Socialite. Also seeing the same issue in Newsrack (former Newsstand) for the iPhone, so it’s not only Socialite.
