This collection of frequently asked questions should cover everything you need to know about buying and upgrading to RapidWeaver 8 for Mac.
Q: Will RapidWeaver 8 run on my System? A: RapidWeaver 8 runs great on everything from macOS 10.12 through to macOS 10.14 (Mojave). We've built RapidWeaver 8 so that it runs on 10.11, but this is unsupported, and due to the OS being fairly old you may encounter a few issues. We recommend you run RapidWeaver on the most up-to-date OS that you can.
Q: What are all the new features in RapidWeaver 8? A: Take a look at the RapidWeaver website to learn more about all the new features. You should also take a look at the RapidWeaver Tutorial page for even more in-depth videos on using RapidWeaver 8.
Q: Can I upgrade at a discounted price? A: Yes, existing users can upgrade for a discounted price, head over to the Upgrade page to learn more.
Q: How much does a full license for RapidWeaver 8 cost? A: RapidWeaver 8 is available directly from the Realmac Software Store and up-to-date pricing can be found there.
Q: Where can I Buy RapidWeaver 8? A: Head over to the RapidWeaver 8 website to buy your copy. Your serial number will be delivered immediately and will unlock all the great new features in RapidWeaver 8.
Q: Is RapidWeaver available on the Mac App Store? A: Currently only RapidWeaver 7 is available on the Mac App Store, however it is available for a reduced price. We hope to be able to bring RapidWeaver 8 to the App Store later this year.
Q: Where can I download RapidWeaver 8? A: Head over to the RapidWeaver 8 website and click the “Download Trial” link at the bottom of the page. The free trial version of RapidWeaver allows anyone to create as many three page websites as they like. Should you want to go beyond the three page limit you can purchase a license from the Realmac Store.
Q: I recently purchased RapidWeaver 7, do I get a free upgrade? A: Yes. If you purchased RapidWeaver 7 directly from us after July 1st just drop us an email and we'll get you up and running with the new version.
Q: Are RapidWeaver 8 projects backwards compatible with version RapidWeaver 7? A: Due to all the new features and enhancements in RapidWeaver 8, projects created with the version 8 or not backwards compatible.
If you open an existing RapidWeaver 7 project in RapidWeaver 8 it will create a copy of the project and save it as a new document. This prevents RapidWeaver 8 overwriting you old RapidWeaver 7 projects.
Q: I can't find the "Default Theme" option in the preferences, where's it gone? A: This option has moved. To set a default theme, you right click on theme you wish to set as the default in the Theme chooser and select "Make Default".
Q: Can RapidWeaver build an online Store? A: Yes, there's many options available, but you should take a look at Ecwid, this is an excellent online store that is compatible with RapidWeaver 7 and RapidWeaver 8.
Q: Why do I get a "Missing export path" dialog on existing projects? A: This is due to security/sandboxing on macOS, as technically RapidWeaver 8 is a different app to RW7 so doesn't yet have permission to access your filesystem.
Once you've chosen the export folder again you won't be asked again and all future exports for that project will work just fine.
Q: The SVG I'm using is not working in the Site Logo or Favicon area, why is this? A: It may be because the SVG file is using a Font, try opening the file in Sketch or Illustrator and converting the Font to an "Outline" or "Shape". After re-saving the file try adding it back into RapidWeaver and the issue should be fixed.
